Democrats Introduce Bill that Could Lead to Impeachment for Justices Thomas and Scalia
Ethics would seem to be an obvious standard for the highest court in the land. But the SCOTUS’s 5-4 ruling favoring corporations over people last week proved otherwise.
If this move by Democrats succeeds, it will halt the precarious direction the Robert’s court is trying to take the nation. And, maybe, start a new trend where federal officials are held accountable for their misdeeds.
Selling out to the corporations may come with a price, after all.

On Thursday, a group of Democratic lawmakers proposed a law to establish a Code of Conduct for the Supreme Court.
It’s surely to have Supreme Court Justices Thomas and Scalia quaking in their Tea Party boots because it would mean they would actually have to be independent of political and other influences. They would also have to have the appearance of independence. They would have to stay away from political activity. That part would be really hard.
As it stands, this law would help guarantee that Supreme Court Justices are held to the same ethical standards we expect of other judges.

The House (via Democrats -61 of them) introduced the same legislation last year. It went, as will this piece of legislation, nowhere.
So why bother?
Publicity and perception.
Corporations are not people nor are we a ‘christian’ Nation that has religious tests.
